Griffin Museum of Photography's Summer Solstice: Incandescent Exhibition - Jul 15 to Aug 15

One of my photos has been selected to be in the Griffin Museum of photography’s group show Summer Solstice: Incandescent.:) My sincere thanks to juror Christa Dix, Director of the Griffin Museum, for including my work in this year's exhibition. It's an honor to have this photograph shown alongside the work of so many talented photographers.

The exhibition runs July 15 through August 15, and as you might have already guessed the theme of the show is Light. Every photo uses light as the main subject - every flavor, interpretation, and manifestation of light as the main character can be found in the show. I invite you to see it here!

I really like the show’s promotional poster, where they’ve listed all participating artist’s names within a large circular light flare in Oliver Raschka’s beautiful black and white photo. Such a perfectly executed design with seamless merging of words and imagery.

My photo in the show is a photo I recently printed it in the color darkroom, Morrigan in the Sunglare. Rather than documenting a single moment with perfect clarity, the photograph embraces the way bright sunlight transforms what we see and experience, suffusing everything with a glaring bright intensity as the moment is imprinted into the hazy landscapes of our memory. Fun fact: the title is inspired by one of my favorite short stories of the same title by Seth Dickinson, which also have to do with the sun. If you’re interested in the story, have a gander here.
